La Teva Decisió (Get A Life)* is the third and highest entry from Andorra in our countdown (see Nos. 499 & 440). It was the last of the six Eurovision attempts (so far) by Andorra and, in common with their previous five, it failed to qualify from the semi final, finishing 15th with a meagre eight points. After the Czech Republic made the final for the first time in 2016, Andorra are now the only nation to have competed at Eurovision and never performed on Saturday night.

We’ve already considered the close voting relationship between Greece and Cyprus (see No. 471), and between Azerbaijan and Turkey (see No. 396). Given Andorra’s proximity to Spain and the fact that a quarter of the population is Spanish it is understandable that Andorra’s voting patterns would also show a strong bias and, indeed, Andorra have given their 12 points to their southern neighbours on five of their six appearances. The one exception was 2007 when Andorra awarded their top mark to Verka Serduchka’s Dancing Lasha Tumbai for the Ukraine, and inexplicably gave nothing at all to I Love You Mi Vida by D’Nash (see No. 391). It’s interesting that Andorra and Albania were the only countries that year to use juries instead of televoting and Albania gave their 12 points to Spain which makes one wonder whether the two scoresheets got mixed up.

Susanne Georgi was born in Sjølund, Denmark. In the early 1990s she formed a duo with her older sister Pernille and, calling themselves Me & My, they released a dozen singles between 1995 and 2007 including Dub-I-Dub, which topped the Danish charts and reached the Top 10 in several countries across Europe. In 2007 they entered the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, the Danish national selection finals, with Two Are Stronger Than One, but ended up in 6th, some way behind drag queen winner DQ. Two years later she was more successful, winning the national final of her adopted homeland of Andorra.

Georgi relocated to the principality in the late 1990s, and after marrying an Andorran in 2011 became Mrs Georgi-Puigercós. She now sells jewellery and runs a children’s nursery in the country’s capital Andorra La Vella.
