483 One Thing I Should Have Done – Giannis Karagiannis (Cyprus, 2015)

It is probably still too close to judge objectively but the 2015 contest seemed a fitting celebration of 60 years of Eurovision. The standard of songs was excellent and the staging possibly the best ever.

One Thing I Should Have Done is the first of 19 songs from the final year of our survey in the Top 500, a total matched by 2009 and beaten by only one year – 2013. It is one of only three Cypriot entries to have made the final in the past ten years and finished a very creditable sixth in the second semi final, though, on the night, it probably suffered by being performed immediately after the winning song, Måns Zelmerlöw’s Heroes. Giannis picked up a mere 11 points – 1 from Slovenia and 10 from Greece. It was the first time since 1995 that Greece had not awarded Cyprus their full 12 points.
